  1. I'm already finding my pc is starting up much much faster than when had Kaspersky aswell so will hopefully get subscription when 30days ends and will of course let you know how it goes. Thanks for everyone's advice x
  2. Hi - have removed all traces of Kaspersky and have just downloaded 30day free trial of ESET Smart Security so will see how this goes! Thanks again for everyone's help.
  3. Following on from that, I'm thinking of going with Eset, but is there a Kaspersky 7.0 removal tool? On the info when I bought it, it just says remove in Add/Remove but I remember the year before when I had Norton, there was a link to a Norton removal tool to ensure removed completely. Have googled it and looked on Kaspersky site but am really confused! Please help me, and my computer!!!
  4. Hi thanks for your replies - I rang the tech. no. for Kaspersky but was in a queue for over 10mins without speaking to anyone - I haven't got the money or patience !!! and considering I've only got 34days left of a service that I've had probs with since day one, and have got worse over the last month, and has now left my computer without any protection, I'm just going to remove Kaspersky today and try something else later today. Maybe I've just been unlucky? but it's certainly put me off using Kaspersky again! Will now have a look at some of the ones you've suggested.
  5. Sorry for posting twice, I thought I had lost it and have just sat and re-typed it all again to see it is posted twice. Not having a good day! Sorry x
  6. Am using Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 and have over 1 month left on my subscription but am today am getting "Database is obsolete" and will not let me update - the update gets to 21%, quickly jumps to 100% and then still says obsolete and asks me to update?!?! I have ran ATF Cleaner, Malywarebytes and SuperAnti spyware and re-started pc loads of times but is not resolving and now my pc has no protection whatsoever. In the last month or so, it was saying something like database is out of date and again wouldn't let me update but I found running those above 3 packages and re-starting would resolve it, but not this time. Months ago I DID try to post on Kaspersky forum but despite logging in, it wouldn't allow me to post so I emailed the administrator as it asked me to do if that were to happen but no-one ever bothered getting back to me so I am quickly losing faith in Kaspersky . . . Would be grateful of any help . . . .
  7. Hi, thanks for replying. Just didn't occur to me of possible keyboard issue as it only happened whilst on internet and was able to type in Word and also able to type my password to log onto net so seemed linked to the internet somehow. Also, it happened whatever letter I pressed, not just the 'F' key . . .. . . bit strange . . . .
  8. Apologies if I've posted in the wrong section, but I AM worried there is some kind of virus, etc. . . . Has happened a couple of times now, where I am using the net with no probs but then all of a sudden, any key I press just brings up the Control F "Find" box, but just on the internet and am able to type in Word and to type my password to get into the internet once logged out. Logging out didn't help so had to re-start pc twice to get it to stop and was getting a bit worried! My pc security didn't pick anything up, and afterwards I did an update and scan but nothing found. I only did that ATF Cleaner, Malware and SuperAnti Spyware thing a couple of days ago aswell as I do that every now and then. Anyone have any idea why this happened?
  9. Hi Seth - thanks very much for getting back to me - I did what you said and it is all ok now! Thanks again, Andrea.
  10. Hello, am really worried got some kind of virus as put pc on today and message says "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". Also using Kaspersky and it says Kaspersky database is also corrupt and telling me to update but when I try, jumps very quickly from 21% to 100% but returns to that message of database being corrupted and telling me to update so just going round in circles. Kaspersky says got 5 security threats and can see that File Anti-Virus, Mail Anti-Virus and Web Anti-Virus are all disabled - gives me options on each to enable but when click enable, briefly says it's starting to do this but then just goes back to the message of "failed (error loading database"). Don't know what to do . . . .can anyone help me, pleeeeese?!?!
  11. Hi - I will do and hopefully it will be to say it's working! Thanks, Andrea.
  12. Nah - not in hibernation, was completely off. Very strange! As long as it's working anyway! Will wait and see what happens and hopefully will be ok!?! Thanks for everyone's help, Andrea.
  13. Hi, thanks for your replies . . . and no I didn't try another charger - local places said they no longer stock charger for my model of pc (2yrs). Luckily, it's completely back to the way it was, but if happens again, will have to try to get charger somewhere, if air in vents doesn't work, etc. Just curious, but does anyone know why pc would switch itself back on? I definately shut down properly, unplugged from mains so only battery in and went to bed but 6hrs later 4.30am, switched itself on literally the second I walked in the room and everything loaded up as normal?! Only thing did different was left lid open and left charger cable in the back of pc but wasn't in mains (when I managed to get it working, tried to leave everything as it was in the hope it would work the next day). Anyone know why it would switch itself on?
  14. But that's what I was meaning - surely it can't have been down to heat ONLY, because like I said before, once pc was on, it was fine and was on for hours until I switched it off. It was only when I tried to put it back on (either then or next day) that it wouldn't power-up so didn't suggest that it was a heat prob. Thats why I posted as was confused as was other issues like fact that I had to put air in vents for it to work AND the fact that touching/moving the cable made it switch off AND fact that the life in the battery is like 10mins fully charged - but all of a sudden, EVERYTHING has resolved at same time and is 100% like it was before . . .
  15. Did read your replies the same day but was testing it and switched everything off and couldn't get back on again!!! However, that night I unplugged from mains (with battery in) and went to bed. Got up about 6hours later in middle of night, walked into room where pc is and it had JUST that very second switched itself on when I walked in!!! Weird timing! I know it hadn't done it any other time during the night as it went on to give that option cancel disk check by pressing any key. Next day, wouldn't come on, even when blew into vents, so used cool setting on hairdryer(!) and literally the second I did that, it powered up - weird thing is, since then, its worked absolutely fine - obviously sounds like the vents needed clearing but it was when I moved the cable that it would go off, but since then, I can move the pc and even deliberately move the cable in the back and move the lead and it never goes off! Am v. pleased it's working but it's a bit strange!
