  1. This is the battery that came with the laptop. I bought it last January. The laptop's now running ok. However, there's a red cross over the battery symbol. When I unplug the laptop the cross goes away, but the symbol is empty and it says "Unknown remaining".
  2. Hi, I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NW20EF and am having the same problem as described in this thread: http://extremetechsupport.com/forum/laptops-and-monitor-issues/2826-laptop-battery.html. I have disabled isbutility and am no longer getting the message: The installed battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible with the computer. click "OK" to enter Hibernate mode, and remove and reinsert the battery. See the electronic VAIO® user guide for more infiormation about using the battery. However, my laptop is not detecting any battery. I've removed it and reinserted it, but no joy. Also, after shutting down, the computer won't start until I've removed and reinserted. This is driving me crazy. I'd REALLY appreciate some assistance. Many thanks in advance, Ross
