  3. hia thanks for replying guys the mobo is a "MSI K7n2 Delta ILSR" I cant see the hard drives in bios under IDE yet i cant see any sata options in the bios settings in any tab is the same with the new hard drive as it was with the old one i thort was causing the problem i got the floppy disk "sata drivers" from the msi web site (here) http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=546&maincat_no=1 the jumper settings control the amount of bites the data travles so ive set it to the slow setting as the mobo dosnt support the fast option but as i said the blody thing worked b4 when i put the floppy in and hit f6 when it says in windows setup it finds the right drivers fine also and heres the funni bit ubuntu still loads fine with the old hard drive this is why i got the new one i thort it was linux "Grub" loader playing around but ive got new hard drive with no mbr so windows should install that of the disk or am i missing somthing thanks again for replying and sorry for spellin im cr*p at tit xxx
  4. Ubuntu is amazing when you get the beryl addon its abot 10x vista only problems ive got is i wiped windows off when i installed and now grub is the major bootloader and it dont like windows exe. attal even under wine (windows emulator) pros: runs vvvvv fast looks cool with beryl (check youtube) dose all the work for you it just works easy to instal its free cons: hard to remove wont play most games without lots of codeing some grafix cards arnt supported you realy do have to trust somethings are working just remember to back up your windows when you install its a os in the making so you will have to do alot of work in the beginning to get all the extras in your slots working it is linux based so some things wont work like they do in wondows i now use ubuntu on my entertainment center with a projector it looks and works amizingly tho i have a seperate gaming mashine good luck
  5. your setup sound good mine is MSI K7n2 delta ilsr AMD XP Barton 2800+ ATI X700 1.7 gb ddr 400 ram 80gb sata the only thing i could say is how big is your power supply and is your prossesor maxing out (task manager) go for at least a 550w psu at least 1.5 gb ram and check to see if your mobo is ok dont bother with vista yet untill crysis is relesed see how hot your running (bios) "under 60'c" my next move will be a 64bit prosessor but thats a whole new pc realy you can get 512mb fx cards like the x1950 xtx for agp but if your pc is stalling in games id check the drivers for my cards and download direx9 again i had stalling in dawn of war for ages untill i did some driver checks hope this helps dude take it easy
  6. PLeaseeeeeeeee help meeee
  7. windows will normaly re-instal all the major files it needs to boot on the sceond restart if not you can repair windows using the windows disk going though the setup and hit "R" for repair instead of enter to install thus keeping all your info whoop whooop
  8. i agree Agv is the best specialy if your pc is a bit slow it wont take up too much usage though it dose do a test everytime you turn your pc on that slows it down a bit (you can turn it off) but its much faster than norton wich will slow things down loads same with avast its cool but slow AGV all the way baby
  9. Hia ppl im stuck realy stuck ive now got a brand new hard drive due to i thort it was my "Ubuntu" messing up the settings in bios but the same problem remains ok so basicly im trying to get windows XP Sp2 back on my pc its been there b4 so it dose work, what ive done is.... 1) put the xp boot disk in the dive and booted off it go to the install drivers and put in my floppy disk and installed them then hit enter and it says "Cant find Hard Drives" blar blar blar 2) reset the bios by taking out the battery and setting it back to "Factory Setings" nothing is working i still get the same message (with the old hard drive i tryed wiping ubuntu off it but it refused to move then tryed to put it in anouther mashine and wipe it but windows wouldnt see it so i "Fixmbr" and tryed a few dos based wipe programs and that didnt work hence i thort the drive was a bit Fu**ed so i got a new one to get me though) i cant find any sata setup in the bios but there is scsi settings the the boot menu . the board did work with the 80gb sata drive with windows on it. SUMMERY; did work fine put ubuntu on it and worked fine now trying to put windows back on it and says cant find hard drives have the floppy sata drivers and raid drivers they go on fine (or seem to) when i hit enter to install windows it says "Setup cannot find any hard drives installed on this system" my system is MSI K7n2 delta ilsr X700 AGP ATI 1.7 gb Ram sata hard drive 160gb (the biggest dirve the board could take) (hence the drivers on the floppy) Please please please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee xxxxx
