  1. I don't think so, you should be able to get a copy on eBay, make sure you get a genuine copy with a COA. For info I have been having problems with my nephews laptop, it wouldn't let me install XP as it said there was no hard drive present, in the end I installed an upgrade version of Vista but didn't register it, I then upgraded Vista to Win 7, I didn't expect it to work but when I input the Licence code it accepted it and the laptop is now working OK, it might! work for you if you can get an XP disc and then use your Win 7 upgrade disc
  2. If your Windows 7 version is an upgrade one then you will have to install XP first and then upgrade it to Win 7, I've just had this problem last week, although you can do a clean install with the Win 7 disk when you come to enter the Licence Number (COA) it will say that you cannot continue as you are using an ugrade version. Hope this helps
  3. Problem solved I decided to scrap the PC so I removed all the bits I thought I might be able to use, ie power supply, memory, hard drive, CMOS battery, DVD rom, as I had some time on my hands I thought I'd reassemble the bits, lo and behold when I switched it on, the PC started to boot up and when I shut it down it shut itself down. Must have been a bad connection on one of the leads, anyway it now seems OK Thanks for your help
  4. Thanks for the info, have downloaded all the drivers relating to the motherboard, still no joy, think I might trade it in for a new one
  5. The mother board is a GA-8SIML rev 1.0 with onboard video 512mb ram
  6. The COA on the machine was for XP Home, the XP Pro version I've just loaded was a licensed version from a new disc (SP2) and I then downloaded all the updates from the Microsoft website including SP3. I had a look at the download section of the PB support site but it doesn't explain clearly the different files that can be downloaded, the sound file I used came from a disc that I down loaded 2/3 years age for a friend. So you think that I should download all the drivers and hope for the best, I have also wiped the hard drive and done another installation
  7. I have just re-installed XP Pro onto my iMedia 5064, now when I shut it down it reboots itself, I have tried the PB Helpdesk and they just said it was a faulty motherboard, As it was working Ok before I installed XP I don't think it is the motherboard, more likely I have deleted a driver, I had no sound as well but I found a driver for that problem, PB wanted £50 for a restore disk. Has anyone any ideas? Les
