It doesn't matter what I press. I can't get anything on the screen. Can't display Task Manager or anything else for that matter I'm afraid. The only thing that works is the power button.

I have just cleaned down my PC using my System Recovery disc due to poor performance. I have reloaded all of my standard software again but when rebooting I have had a blank screen on several occasions ie. no task bar or desktop. Just the background wallpaper. Continual reboots have eventually been getting the Desktop back but is becoming less successful and my most recent attempts have failed altogether. I'm writing this on my laptop but will be heading off for 2 weeks (with laptop) and can't leave the household pcless. OS Windows XP home edition Medion Desktop PC
