Usually the drivers are installed by the operating system and the manufacturers dont have drivers for download Try the firmware update. other options are: go to start - control panel - system - hardware tab - device manager - look for your cd/dvd drive there right click it and select properties - go to the driver tab - try clicking update driver try uninstalling the driver and then reinstall using the same method above You could also try disabling it then re-enabling it this you could say is a type of refresh Hope that helps

  8. Too be honest unless your an avid overclocker or have built your pc yourself you wont need to change anything. The Heat Paste is an optional thing and you can get some very good stuff here http://www.maplin.co.uk/searchtemplate.asp?criteria=THERMAL%20HEAT%20SINK%20PASTE (You might want to search for better prices)
  9. "I connected my laptop direct to the router & ran the scanner. It picked up a few things which it deleted and then re-booted" How about direct to your modem?
  10. Go to windows explorer then tools then folder options now click the view tab and tick the view hidden folders box now do a search for the document with windows search (make sure you use the advanced section of search and search for hidden folders)
  11. Well i wouldnt format i think thats a bad idea after all its only limewire and can be removed along with all the Malware Use add/remove to remove it then go here http://www.superantispyware.com/ and here http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html Download the free version of superantispyware and update it now run a full scan (make sure you have no programs open) update and run Spybot S+D (note:this is a free program and i recommend it) Remove ALL instances found Now go here http://filehippo.com/download/836aab53c0dfd8723b25ba68ecc6b540/download/ Tick all boxes and run Cr*pCleaner this will remove all the unneeded files from your pc go to: my computer - program files - and remove all folders to do with limewire Your pc should be better now Please do not install ANY P2P programs not only is it illegal but your PC WILL be ruined FACT! I have a similar problem with ICQ6 it installs but doesnt run i cant explain why but im not bothered because i just use an older version of ICQ
  12. i recommend you run this software http://www.superantispyware.com/ Get the free version update it and run it on full scan (make sure you have no programs running)<<V important This will remove any MALWARE that you might have on your pc that might cause these types of pages not to load If you can, cable your internet straight to your PC so you can see if it is a router/modem/firewall problem so we can eliminate it Theres soooooooo many variables on why you cant view HTTPS we need to start eliminating them You wont be able to access "local security policys" because XP home is too basic Disable all your firewalls (Windows and any others you might have loaded and stop any security you have running) I think if you cable your internet straight to your PC it will work, did you try opening port 443? If you have MSN i can do remote assistance its a lot easier to diagnose the problem this way.... Also do you get a certificate page load when trying to visit these pages? OR does it timeout? let me know thanks
  13. when your PC starts press F8 you might need to press it a few times You will be given a screen with some options pick safe mode without networking Are you using add/remove to get rid of these programs? Some details on the programs would be helpful for future problems thanks
