  1. I have a further problem. I downloaded the first programm, which loads a zipped file on to my desktop, and i dont have winzip. I have downloaded a version, however it cannot load it on to the computer in safe mode. I have tried to open the computer in normal mode but the virus does not allow me open any files!! I have fallen at the first hurdle, any ideas????? Many Thanks Richard

  3. Hi All, I appear to have been hit by a virus which has installed a programm called HDD Removal. Everytime i switch the machine on it does a scan and informs me I have all manner or issues with the hard drive etc. I am hoping some one may know how to remove this? It is a real pain as I cannot run the computer normally whilst this is installed. I have googled this and down loaded a couple of Trojan removal programmes, however once they have done a scan, they need me to pay £30 to safely remove the problem? Can anyone advise if this can be done for free, or do i need to pay, if so can you reccomend a good removal programm. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Richard PS - I am no computer whiz kid so if you could bear that in mind with any answers!!:):)
  4. Thanks all for the responses. I performed a system restore and the rebooting problem has disappeared!!! However, i cannot seem to open Internet Explorer now? I am able to connect to the net through my AOL browser but not IE7? It just tells me that it is not responding?? any ideas?? Thanks again Richard
  5. Thanks Randy, I will check that link out and let you know how I get on. Many Thanks Richard
  6. Hi Frank, Thanks for your speedy response. I tried what you suggested. I presume the system tray is the icons on the bottom right of the screen, by the clock (my computer skills are pretty basic!). Anyway I attempted to uninstall StopZilla, after selecting 'Exit StopZilla' and the same box appeared telling me the windows installer service cannot be accessed. Any other suggestions? Also you mentioned a System Restore. As my computer skills are pretty basic i do not entirely understand how to do this, if you could give me some instructions (for a lamen!) would be appreciated. May I thank you again for your help, and I look forward to any further suggestions you may have!! Thanks Richard
  7. Hi All, I am hoping you can help. My laptop is around 4 years old and I have had very few problems. However recently my free version of AVG flagged up there was a Trojan present. I googled how to remove this and it was suggested I install StopZilla. Since installing this program my computer will start and go in to the desktop, however only for a few seconds, until a blue screen appears and tells me it is going to 'Crash Dump', and suggests this could be a result of some new software. The computer then restarts and goes through this episode again and again. I opened the computer in safe mode and it works fine, I figured that StopZilla may have been the culprit so i have tried to remove it. However, when i try a box appears telling me the Windows installer service cannot be accessed? Any suggestions on how I can fix this problem would be very much appreaciated as I am pulling my hair out :confused: Many thanks in advance Richard
