TCP/IP protocol drivers not working

Thanks but it didnt work. winsock reset gives me the following error when i hit enter. winsock is not recognized as an internal or extrenal command, operable program, or batch file. I did reboot to see if it helped but it didnt. Ill try the 2nd set of intructions to see if that works. -
EASEUS partition manager is free. Not sure if its safe to use though lol. Only used it once to get rid of a 500GB partion that Acer put on my PC just for back ups lol. Whats the point of having a 1TB HDD if u can only use half of it PMPL

How do I.. help please.. easy problem
cliff60 replied to King_c's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
Im not much good with PC's either. But think with Ubuntu u will have to use the boot disk like when u installed it. But instead of partioning it use the whole drive. It will wipe the drive But not sure if it will format everything before it installs it again. So u might have to backup all ur data 1st. U can use a partion manager to wipe the partion as well then increase the ubuntu partion to fill the drive. But ive never tried to wipe a partion only change the size. so not sure if that will do what u want. Try the EASEUS partition manager. Its free. Just google it and download it and see if that does what u want. If u use ur PC for games keep windows as well as Ubuntu isnt very good for gaming. -
I had the same problem with the x1301. Even replacing the hard drive didnt fix the problem. As it was only 6 months old i got a replacement as all they did was put a new HDD in instead of replacing the motherboard. Think its A bios problem. I tried to use the recovery disk but after 3 attempts it just went to the bois screen then kept rebooting on its own. Also think it might be something to do with the Acer software as the replacement PC i got was the X3400 and had nothing but trouble with that 1 as well. Did u update the BIOS? I did after Acer told me too. It was fine for a few weeks then did the same as urs. It went in for repair as the graphics card failed as well. But they dint replace the motherboard so it crashed again as soon as i turned it on.

TCP/IP protocol drivers not working

Sorry forgot. Its an Acer AX3400. AMD AthlonII X3 425 triple core. 4GB DDR3 ram. 1TB HDD. GeForce 9200 GPU -
Im trying to get my TCP/IP protocol drivers working. Its not stopping me gettining online. But it is slowing my PC down a lot. Ive been searching my PC for weeks to find out why, But the only thing not working is the TCP/IP drivers. Im using tune up tools and that also says its the only thing not working. But cant use the instruntions that gives me cause the update driver option is not there. In the general tab it says :This device is not present, Is not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed (code 24):. Device type non-plug and play drivers. manufacturer unknown. Location unkown. In driver tab It says.: C:/windows/system32/drivers/Tcpip.sys. File version. 6.1.7600.16385(win7_rtm.090713-1255). Provider Microsoft Corperation. Im using win 7 64bit home premium with SP1. I dont think the drivers were working when i got the PC as its been very slow since i got it. Its already a replacement PC cause the 1 i did have had a graphics card failure. But instead of replacing the graphics card they replaced the HDD. So when i got it back and the graphics still didnt work i told them to replace it which they did but with a newer model with higher specs. But its a lot slower than the original PC. From what ive been told the TCP/IP drivers can slow a PC down if there not working. So want to fix them to see if thats the problem. If not ill be taking the PC back for yet another replacement.

I reformatted it. Its still dynamic. Think it might of put files on when i used the transfer wizard to try and move my files onto it but i could not use the files so maybe i have to put it on master to use them when i get them on there. The folder with the image dat files is now gone so think thats what was taking up all the space. But the size didnt match what it said i used. The help file in disk management doesnt help cause nothing in there is showing up in the options. The only options im getting is format or asign drive letter nothing else. both options just format it into dynamic drive.

Replacing Anti Virus software
cliff60 replied to Lowfellboy's topic in Tech Support & Discussions Forum
I got rid of all the pre installed anti virus as soon as i found out there was 3 installed lol. Think most PC makers get paid for having anti virus installed so they put more than 1 on the system when they sell it. Ive only got kaspersky now and the system is now stable. Or it was till The linux OS i had in a partion got infected with a worm after being hacked by microsoft. The worm somehow got across the partion and destroyed win 7 as well and the bios. It was confirmed by acer that it was microsoft who planted the worm in the linux partition and r suing microsoft to pay for a new PC for me as my pc is un repairable due to their actions. Well thats what they told me on the phone a few days ago. Kaspersky has blocked all updates from microsoft on my XP system due to worms in the updates. Think microsoft r trying to force ppl to upgrade to win 7. I would go to linux full time if i could get games to run on it. But im stuck using windows for games and linux for everthing else. -
Just looked at system info for the new drive. Its drive F local fixed drive. compressed. no. File system NTFS. Size 74.53GB. free space 65.30 GB. So there is something on it as its an 80GB HDD. But apart from the folder i mentioned above which is less than 1GB i cant find anything else on it.

Smart defrag works in the background and defrags every file when its closed down automaticly. But i disabled it cause it was using to many resources. But i keep getting popups telling me i need to defrag. Im also getting my AV keep giving me popups about a worm in the windows updates. Everytime it gets deleted it just downloads it again even with auto updates turned off. I know the worm that destroyed my new pc came from microsoft cause my linux firewall tracked it back to them. Plus my linux OS was constantly being hacked by Microsoft or so my firewall was reporting.

I did format it into NTFS. It was unalocated when i 1st installed it. The only option it gave me was to format it into a dynamic drive. It was after that when it came up as drive F. The only option there now is to change it to basic drive.

Im still trying to work out how XP works as ive never used it before. Ive used 3.1, 95, 98, 2000 and win 7. Ive been using win7 for the last 10 months on my new PC but that is in for repairs after a worm infected the linux partition and spread to the windows partition an destroyed the BIOS. SO only got the old PC to keep me going till i get my other PC back. Which they estimate will be 2 or 3 months. Most games wont work on the old PC as it has all intell stuff. IE pentium 4 intel graphics sound and modem. So i expect it to be slow. But having to wait half an hr for a program to open is realy slow lol. MY new pc has AMD athlon 2 X4, Nvidia 9200 4GB ram and Nvidia 1000Mbs ethernet card and a 1TB HDD. I forgot how slow intel systems were but dont think ive ever had 1 as slow as this lol. But think most of that is due to the hard drive being to small. Thats why im trying to get the new drive up and running. I added another 1GB of ram a few days ago which helped a little bit as it only had 1GB in it. I was going to put more but was told i cant have more than 2GB of ram with XP.
