Great, thanks for the replies. On my device manager its got a question mark under the other devices (multimedia audio controller) But when i try to update this it say that it cannot find the software required for it. Is there a good place to start looking for this?

Basically, i am an idiot. I was having a clear out on my PC removing all the programs i don't use anymore and got a bit over zealous by accidently uninstalling what i think is one of the programs required for my speakers to work, or the speakers themselves, maybe even the soundcard. At the time i didn't have the internet, as my router had packed in, and a little message kept coming up to say new hardware detected. I then made the error of accidetly telling it not to notify me of this in the future making my problem even harder. Please could anyone help me with my problem or have i screwed up royaly and need to pay a computer technician to fix it? Anyones help would be greatly appreciated.
