  1. I don't know how many devices allow this in the market besides tablets. The Galaxy note has an incredibly great function that allows you to split your screen into two so that you can keep browsing the web and at the same time do something else like texting. I'm still adapting to it but seems to be a great functionality from Samsung.
  2. I am a fan of great productivity apps for Android and I've found SwiftKey 1 year ago. Since then I've been writing faster and saving a lot of time. SwiftKey changes your keyboard to something more user friendly than the usual default Android keyboard. Amongst other features it has: -The ability to Swype your finger to write text. Its a funny way of writing but I'm still not used to it. -The ability to make it learn from your own writing. You can tell the app to learn your writing style from Facebook, Twitter, your emails, and even your RSS feed: your can tell the app to learn from your posts on FPCH - create an RSS feed for your profile and that would work. It can also learn from previous messages. -You can enable 2 languages on your device (Portuguese and English in my case ) and SwiftKey will automatically detect in which language you are looking to write and eventually if you're looking to write with both languages at the same time it will softly understand it. The App is not free for the full features. It actually costs 3.99$ for the tablet version and 0.99$ for the smartphone version. It works in all Android versions from 2.3 onwards. 3. Not only your browser holds a cache, but all of your applications in your Android tablet or smartphone have a cache. A routine job to enhance the performance is to clear the cache in Android devices. If you need to free up some space on the phone the first thing to look I'd the cache as it can remove you up to 2gb on a 12gb storage tablet. This will immediately speed up your phone or tablet. Actually there is an app to do this job for you. It is called Cache cleaner and you may download from the Google Play Store. http://ireceitas.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Screenshot_2013-11-05-10-50-03.png Open the app. It will automatically scan how much space it can clean. http://ireceitas.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Screenshot_2013-11-05-10-50-56.png In my case there was almost 500mb to be cleaned. Just click the clean button and the Cache cleaner app will quickly remove all those files. http://ireceitas.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Screenshot_2013-11-05-10-51-11.png
  4. Ofter you feel the need to have some contents already downloaded when you access them. That is the case if you are using a 3G connection like mine where the traffic is limited to 200mb per month or eventually if your 3G is very slow. Several Apps like Spotify, Google Maps, YouTube, Facebook, Google Plus or other real time streaming application allow you to Preload content while you are on a WiFi connection so that when you are in a 3G you can access them from your system storage or SD card memory. For Spotify you may download playlists and for Youtube you can change the settings to allow Preloading. Lets see in YouTube : > In the top right corner click in the 3dotted button and access Youtube Settings > Click on Preloading. > You can enable the Preloading for your channel subscriptions or just for the videos where you click "Watch Later" http://ireceitas.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Screenshot_2013-11-02-13-20-07.png
  5. In this quick guide I want to take the opportunity to show you one nice and important setting for your Android phone. Because if your phone or tablet gets lost there is no easy way to return it to its owner if you don't put an ugly sticker with all your contacts in the tablet. It will work in any Android 4.x version of this iOS. The idea is to save your information in the locked screen so people can contact you back and eventually return your device. To turn this on go to Settings > personal > Lock Screen > Owner Information http://ireceitas.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Screenshot_2013-10-30-21-38-31.png You can add your email or your alternative phone number and that is it! http://ireceitas.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Screenshot_2013-10-30-21-38-54.png
