  1. I don't actually know whether that title is right, you see a couple of days ago my p.c was working fine. I was messing about 1 day in the BIOS settings looking for a way of overclocking my machine. I went downstairs leaving the BIOS screen open, and my little sister :@ Started messing around in this screen (Shes 4).. I returned in time to see part of the message that flashed up before it died.. It partly read something along the lines of... ''The value you have changed.. computer won't boot up past startup screen... BIOS settings changed'' I didn't quite catch the rest of the message, and now everytime I try to fire up my machine i get nowhere, it just stops on the PackardBell screen, nothing I do works, I hit ESC to swap screens to see what's booting up.. and it tells me it's counting my physical memory and that it's 'ok'. I hit F2 for system BIOS and it just doens't listen, carries on with the PackarBell screen, Hitting F8 doesn't work either, I've tried rebooting through the c.d but i can't get the computer to load far enough. I'm thinking something in the BIOS has been changed therefore hindering the processor, BIOS or something i'm none to familiar with from booting. I need some help pronto on this one as i can't go without the computer because it's used for work too. I'm running Windows XP Pro, anything else you need to know, dont desitate to ask. I've got appx 42 minutes left on the computer i'm using! Thanks... I'll give my mobile number out to anyone who thinks they can help me step by step. :D

  3. Hi What would be the reason for a slow startup...as it restarts and you've got the Windows XP logo on the black screen with a blue thinking bar moving across in blocks which goes at a normal speed then slows completely down and takes 5-10 minutes to get back up to speed then move onto the blue windows start-up screen and everything is fine from there? Have I made any sense??? System: Microsoft Windows XP – Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Computer: AMD Athlon™ 63 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.51 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM Physical Address Extension Have scanned with Panda Security & Spyware Doctor but restart is still really slow. Plus my DVD drive has disappeared. It no longer shows in My computer or device manager. Could this be linked? Can anyone help?
  4. hi guys im a complete novice on pcs,,but mine wont start up at all. all the connections are ok i have taken the back off the pc and the fan is running all the time dontknow if that os normal or not its making a clicking noise to hope you can help me thanks
  5. I think this is an OS problem but im not 100% sure. Basically as i type, my pc opens up Yahoo Mail in a new browser window, it seems it is random keys that cause this, as I have pressed each key one at a time and it never results in the same key popping up Yahoo Mail. Its getting very annoying as I have to stop typing half way through a word, close Yahoo Mail then go back and carry on. Last night I was posting a short topic elsewhere, and it popped up 17 times! Anyone know what's going on? And what can I do to stop it? Ive tried uninstalling the Yahoo toolbar and anything to do with Yahoo. Any other suggestions please?
