  1. It is with great regret that I must inform you that the legendary security site CastleCops is now no more. Here is what you get when you try to visit the site. The news comes as a real blow to me as CastleCops was one of the best security advisory sites ever made. It even used to be a university to train Malware fighters so its going offline comes as a big loss to the world of internet. :( I just hope that some other CastleCops comes back online; bigger, stronger and better than the one just closed. -- Goku

  3. Hi, up until a month ago i could get sound from my computer, then my speakers got thrown away by accident as they were very old. I recieved a pair of speakers (Dell Model A225) which has a green wire and a USB plug. These do not work and i have tried umpteen times to find a driver from them on the net to no avail. Now i find out that i have no sound audio advice on my computer and i have tried to troubleshoot on the net but again it has come to no avail. So i was wondering whether anyone could help me out? My PC is made by NEC Computers, The system is POWERMATE VL5, I am on Windows XP Home Edition version 5.1 if anyone would like any more info the i could get it to you but i am not that well clued up on the techincal side of computers. Many Thanks p.s having read through a few of the posts on this forum and seeing the replies, i cannot do a system restore as i have no dates to go back to.
  4. Hello, first post... I did do a search but couldn't trace this one. Just bought a new PC: Zoostorm Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 1TB 4GB DVD RW NVIDIA 8500GT 512MB Vista Home Premium - Ebuyer and this monitor: **£40 Cashback** Samsung T220 22" TFT Monitor 1680x1050 20,000:1 2ms VGA/DVI Rose Black 3 Years Onsite Warranty - Ebuyer and have been trying to install Flight Sim X for over a day now. Normally it'll hang during the first disc although I have got as far as half way through the scond before it hangs. I, probably stupidly, tried copying both discs to my desktop and tried installing it from there but no luck. Normally after it's hung, I can't then turn the PC off but have to hold the power swith in to turn it off. Not sure whether it's a hardware conflict or what but it's really getting to me now! Any help or suggestions would be most welcome... Thanks. Peter.

  6. Hi I have recently had to reinstall MS Office 2007 due to a registry error I was receiving in PowerPoint. Since reloading the whole office suite back onto my laptop windows updates have appeared for the different office programs. I have checked Add & Remove programs and none appear but each time I download them & click install the following messages appear. Initializing installation... done! Installing Security Update for Microsoft Office system 2007 (KB951808) (update 1 of 9)... failed! Installing Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (KB952142) (update 2 of 9)... failed! Installing Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB953463) (update 3 of 9)... failed! Installing Security Update for Microsoft Office Publisher 2007 (KB950114) (update 4 of 9)... failed! Installing Security Update for Microsoft Office Word 2007 (KB950113) (update 5 of 9)... failed! Installing Security Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (KB946983) (update 6 of 9)... done! Installing Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (KB946974) (update 7 of 9)... failed! Installing Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB947801) (update 8 of 9)... failed! I don’t know if the registry has been corrupt. I am using XP Pro and upgraded to Service Pack 3. All in all the Office programs work fine without any problems. It’s just the windows updates keep appearing and fail to install. I have tried to hide & ignore these updates but they keep reappearing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Russ
