  1. As stated I am totally clueless about pc's hoping this belongs here. Since I returned from a trip to denmark and installed windows 7 onto my PC i've had nothing but problems. I play World of warcraft and since I returned it's been playing with 1fps and 5fps if i'm lucky, while I was away my sister took it upon herself to vacuum my pc god alone knows and last night I reseated the RAM, this seemed to provide a temporary fix and everything retured to normal, then earlier I entered an instance and I was being disconnected from the game constantly with 3fps and now it's totally unplayable it's almost like someone has the game attached to an elastic band and its pulling it so i freeze for 1-2seconds then releases it. I've read this could be a ram issue, currently running 3gb but I just wanted to get other opinions on the situation. I'm experiencing problems outside of games as well, msn messenger for example keeps crashing if I tab onto it. Any help is appreciated, thank you! Kat
  2. on my sons oldish dell dimension 4700, there is no sound. i reformatted the hdd and obtained the drivers from dell with the service tag. i'm pretty sure i've the correct driver for the machine but still no sound. the speakers i have tried on another machine and they are ok. in the bios i tried onboard audio on and off too. i could always take out the card and replace it with a cheapish card from ebay but i thought i'll have one more attempt with a post here.
  3. Dear All, I have recently had to replace the hardrive on my DELL inspiron 1720. Everything is fine, vista is back on and i've got all my data back on from backup. One problem, i need to reinstall the driver for my bluetooth device, i put the driver CD in, and ask it to install the driver. A box comes up, asking me to switch on my bluetooth device so it can be identified....I can't do it. The button on the side of the laptop is on, but the Bluetooth is not on. The way i see it, it isn't broken, i just don't know how to switch it on in the computer. There needs to be something i can click on the activate it again because when the button on the side of the laptop is on, you get the option to switch bluetooth off even though the button is on, that is what i did before i started having problems with the hardrive. Any tips? Device manage? control pannel? What should i do? I just need a way of activating bluetooth, so windows can install drivers and software for it, but because there are no drivers and software for it, i can't activate it.
  4. Hi, I have a DELL C521 with a Dell Inc 0HY175 A03 motherboard. What im trying to find out is what CPU's I can use as I wish to install a faster one. Currently using 2.60 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core, 128 kilobyte primary memory cache, 1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache. I have done a search but cant seem to find info on this board for CPU's. Not phoned Dell yet, that will be last resort as they are not always that helpful.
  5. Not so great at this stuff. I update windows info. since then i cannot get my printer to work. when i go to start the spooler this message comes up Could not start Printer Spooler on local computer. Error 1058: The service could not be started either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled services associated with it. 6. Hi, up until a month ago i could get sound from my computer, then my speakers got thrown away by accident as they were very old. I recieved a pair of speakers (Dell Model A225) which has a green wire and a USB plug. These do not work and i have tried umpteen times to find a driver from them on the net to no avail. Now i find out that i have no sound audio advice on my computer and i have tried to troubleshoot on the net but again it has come to no avail. So i was wondering whether anyone could help me out? My PC is made by NEC Computers, The system is POWERMATE VL5, I am on Windows XP Home Edition version 5.1 if anyone would like any more info the i could get it to you but i am not that well clued up on the techincal side of computers. Many Thanks p.s having read through a few of the posts on this forum and seeing the replies, i cannot do a system restore as i have no dates to go back to.
  7. I’ve decided against the idea of a Mac Mini for the time being. I am going to get a PDA instead. I would use it a hell of a lot more than a Mac anyway. I’ve been looking for a relatively cheap, but packed with features PDA, and i have to give it to them, Dell (shudders) have done an excellent job. I normally hate Dell, but I’m prepared to make an exception. I have ordered a Dell Axim X30 624mhz PDA with Bluetooth and WI-FI. I was originally looking for HP iPAQ’s which I love completely, but somehow Dell has turned me towards them. Although the HP’s are great, sexy and just brilliant :), only the top notch specs had wireless and Bluetooth. The Dell with a grand price of £204 from eBay brand new :D Not too bad. Will see how Dell PDA's compare to their computers, can only hope for the best :) Mike
