hey, I have come here for help because for a while now I havent been able to get any sound out of my PC, I have tried with speakers AND headphones but neither work, which makes me believe it's a problem with my PC or sound card, any ideas?

I have an Acer 4620z and my HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA, just stopped working, I have checked the device manager and there is an exclamation point over the disc drive. I have tried to uninstall the driver and reboot, that did not work, I tried to update driver software and that didnt work either. It was working fine and just quit...Any suggestions? I am running Vista Home premium if that helps....Thanks -
Hi guys I'm not sure if this is the right bit to post this in (mods please move as appropriate) I've just fitted a Liteon 20x DVD rewriter to my Packard Bell computer (which is about 5 years old and using XP Home). The DVD writer is working fine but for some reason I have lost all sound from my desktop speakers - I've checked that the volume controls are up and that the Realtek 97 has no fault. Any suggestions as to what might've happened. Please be gentle - I'm not too au fait with tech stuff. Thanks in advance for your help.

I very recently bought a new HP DX2400 MT with Windows XP Professional SP2 and an new HP Notebook with Windows Vista. I transferred my existing files from my old computer to the DX2400 using a memory stick. After setting up the Internet connection an automatic update loaded SP3 to this computer. Following this my memory stick would not be recognised. Only a Kingston Datatraveller stick works but Cruzers do not. HP were contacted who suggested downloading an updated chipset driver and removing SP3. This was done but still the Cruzer won't operate. Plug this Cruzer into the Notebook and it operates OK, this Notebook has not been connected to the Internet or updated. On the DX the Cruzer is there in the Device Manager but not under the USB area. It has a Yellow Question mark against it but no Driver can be located when Windows searches. I downloaded the Cruzer U3 Driver but this does not work as Windows says the stick is not a Cruzer device!! Any clues or suggestions?:confused:

This set works fine on a laptop but refuses to cooperate on either the front or back inputs of the desktop. No sign of trouble in device manager. On trying to test in CP/Sounds, just get a very loud WAH WAH sound on playback. Any clues?. Cheers

I have been happily using two external hard drives and my psp in connection with my computer for a number of months now until a couple of days ago when they all became unknown devices not recognised by my computer. i share my computer with other people but i've been assured they havent changed anything so why the sudden error? if i disable usb 2.0 in the bios the computer does detect them but they run very slowly. although this helps as a temporary measure i'd like to find out how to get them running at full speed again. My usb cables all work fine, and the devices work fine on other computers. any help would be appreciated, thanks
