  1. Hi all, how you doin'!? Second post of the evening and I'm really looking for some friendly help here, coz I'm buggered if I know how to fix this latest problem. Yesterday my PC was working fine, no problems at all. Then, when I turned it on today as soon as I logged on I had the dreaded 'Error 0x0000007F BSoD'. If anyone can give me any advice on what may be causing this and what the remedy is if any then I'd be well chuffed. I have tried looking online for solutions but can't make any headway. The BSoD and reboot even happens in Safe Mode, which means that I get no time to check what services are running or whatnot. So there you have it. I'm stumped. Any help would be great. Many thanks in advance, Matthew
  2. I have an Acer 4620z and my HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA, just stopped working, I have checked the device manager and there is an exclamation point over the disc drive. I have tried to uninstall the driver and reboot, that did not work, I tried to update driver software and that didnt work either. It was working fine and just quit...Any suggestions? I am running Vista Home premium if that helps....Thanks

  4. Well basically, when i go to shut down my computer it freezes when it gets to "Windows is shutting down", but it only freezes if my pc has been on for longer than around 30mins/hour. When i go to shut down my computer using start, i get an error message about dumprep and something like "failed to intailize", which happens to quick i can't read it. This error started to appear when it started freezing. I have tried disabling dumprep... i can't find it in both msconfig and regedit, but i disabled it through right click on my computer -> properties -> advanced -> Settings (startup and recovery -> and then under "Write debugging information i have selected none. I am running Windows XP Media Centre Edtion 2005 and today i upgraded to SP3 to see if that stopped the freezing, but didn't make no difference. So any help or tips to stop my computer from freezing would be greatly appriciated. Thanks, Joe :)
  5. Hi What would be the reason for a slow startup...as it restarts and you've got the Windows XP logo on the black screen with a blue thinking bar moving across in blocks which goes at a normal speed then slows completely down and takes 5-10 minutes to get back up to speed then move onto the blue windows start-up screen and everything is fine from there? Have I made any sense??? System: Microsoft Windows XP – Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Computer: AMD Athlon™ 63 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.51 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM Physical Address Extension Have scanned with Panda Security & Spyware Doctor but restart is still really slow. Plus my DVD drive has disappeared. It no longer shows in My computer or device manager. Could this be linked? Can anyone help?
  6. Hi , I don't know if this is the right place I could of sworn there was a multimedia section but can't see one. 7. I've got a problem that is driving me mad... i recently cleared my hard drive started from scratch . my problem revolves around certain progams for example if i launch any type of media player to play music or to watch a film without any codecs installed...it works absolutely fine but as soon as the codecs are installed the computer loads up the film then turns the pcstraight off and restarts after a second of viewing...at first i thought i had dodgy codecs so removed them entirely and tried a different lot...still the same problem... if not annoying enough...it then started doing the same with limewire and certain webpages...so im thinking it could be flash/java orientated to... same thing happens with zshare or if im trying to upload multi pics on a java screen... this is the error report thats sent to microsoft says on reboot serious error BCCcode: 1000008e BCP1 : C0000005 BCP2 : BFB2CA55 BCP3 : B4D9C89C BCP4 00000000 OSVER : 5_1_2600 SP :3_0 Product : 768_1 any help you can give me would be most appreciated!!! cheers Rhoda x
