Guest Moogleez Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I am currently running an Intel Celeron 566 Mhz with a 40 gig harddrive and 256 mg ram. It had Windows XP on it before i owned it and so I figured formatting and reinstalling Windows XP would erase any or all imformation they would have had on this pc. My problem however is with the installation of Windows XP itself. It will not run the 2nd phase of the installation process. I honestly have no idea what could be causing this so any help is great. Please refer to : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/winxp/install.mspx for the installation guide Thank You, Moogleez

What happens exactly? Just saying "will not run..." isn't enough. Failure to install an operating system is usually caused by: 1. Bad install disk (test on another system); or 2. With XP, it can also be a mismatched install disk; i.e. one that is from a BIOS-locked OEM system such as a Dell; or 3. Bad hard drive; or 4. Bad RAM. This is quite an elderly machine you've got. It would not be surprising if hardware components are failing. But you'll need to provide some more details. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers http://www.elephantboycomputers.com Don't Panic!
