I have TCP\IP configured on a standalone server.

I confirmed my IP address was correct

IP 10.1.1.1

subnet 255.255.255.0

gateway 10.1.1.1

dns server (itself) no dns configured yet but plan on doing it during the

dcpromo

but when I go to do a dcpromo it tells me IP is not set up correctly. I

have done this hundreds of times in a 2000/03 enviroment, am I missing

something silly

Remove the Default Gateway. It is pointless to point to itself.

Install the DNS Service before running DCPromo but leave it unconfigured.

Set the DNS in the TCP/IP Config to itself.

Run DC Promo

Re: dcpromo-tells me invalid ip

Hello Kahlan,

IP 10.1.1.1

subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Default gateway (your router IP if available, otherwise empty)

DNS server 10.1.1.1

Install DNS during dcpromo or before, but unconfigured, will work both ways.

Best regards
