KenB Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Hi and welcome to ExTS Your Motherboard - is it P5KPL AM SE ? If so is this the spec? http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5KPLAM_SE/#specifications What is the exact spec for the RAM you bought? DDR2 / PC2 6400 ? Run a Crucial Scan and let me know what it recommends. http://www.crucial.com/uk/systemscanner/?click=true Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! logansclaw Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 yes that is the motherboard that i have fitted the scan Memory:DDR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 PC2-6400 http://www.crucial.com/images11/system/icon_detail.gif Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 (non-ECC) Maximum Memory: 4GB Currently Installed Memory: 3GB Total Memory Slots: 2 Available Memory Slots: 0 1GB DDR PC2-6400 2GB Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 2GB per slot.* *Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory. http://www.crucial.com/images11/system/icon_note.gif Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules. http://www.crucial.com/images11/system/icon_definition.gif Memory or DRAM is the 'working' memory of the computer. It's used to store data for programs (sequences of instructions) on a temporary basis and the memory 800mhz 2048 mb Quote
KenB Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Is this the RAM? http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&biw=1345&bih=542&rlz=1W1ACAW_en&q=corsair+xms2+ddr2+2gb&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=13963316645639554412&sa=X&ei=WhXhTZiKBY2BhQex2p25Bg&ved=0CEgQ8wIwAQ# If so - it would seem to be compatible with the m/board specs and the scan. I have come across this before ( where the system doesn't like 2 new modules ) and the only solution was to return them. For some reason - together - the system is rejecting them. If Dalo is about he may have another suggestion. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Boomer Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I recently built a system with the same motherboard and memory you are experiencing trouble with. After reading good customer feedback i purchased the memory and they worked like a dream first time. I would send them back. Quote
