Guest Danger_Duck Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Right now, all .txt, .java, .c, and .h files all open with notepad when I double-click on them. Where do I go to choose what program opens such files by default? I can obviously right-click and do "open with"->(name of program), but since I will probably NEVER use notepad and ALWAYS use a different text editor, I would like to simply change what it opens by default. Thanks!
Guest Ramesh, MS-MVP Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Re: Setting default program to open file Right-click on the file, click "Open With", click "Choose Program...". In the Open With dialog, select the text editor program. If it's not listed, click "Browse.." and locate the executable manually. Place a checkmark near "Always use the selected program to open tihs kind of file". Click OK. -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] The Winhelponline Blog: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog Windows® Troubleshooting: http://www.winhelponline.com "Danger_Duck" <DangerDuck@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8BF45410-0D22-450C-844C-E68B532C36A2@microsoft.com... > Right now, all .txt, .java, .c, and .h files all open with notepad when I > double-click on them.
