Guest Dharma Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Hello, I recently acquired a new IBM ThinkPad series R61. They come standard with the widescreen ( I do not like). I typically arrange my icons around the perimeter by categories. Eith my old laptop this was not an issue. However, everytime I undock, turn off change settings for dual monitor or use of a projector my icons move around. I have tried various settings including lock desktop items in the wep page set up and nothing seems to help. Thanks for your help. -- Dharma Diaz-Azcuy

Guest Dharma Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Re: Icons Unfortunately I am not changing the resolution. As a matter of fact. I have attempted to use a few different resolutions to see if it would lock the icons in place and this does not work. Since I use dual monitors I have also set both monitors to the same resolution and this still does not work. -- Dharma Diaz-Azcuy "Bob I" wrote: > IF you change desktop resolution the Icons will adjust themselves, that > is how it is designed. > > > > > > Dharma wrote: > > > Hello, > > > > I recently acquired a new IBM ThinkPad series R61. Guest Dharma Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Re: Icons Can you tell me how I can change the desktop resolution. I did not know they were different. Thanks -- Dharma Diaz-Azcuy "Bob I" wrote: > Monitor resolution and desktop resolution are not the same thing. > > Dharma wrote: > > Unfortunately I am not changing the resolution. Guest Bob I Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Re: Icons You can't change it directly, it is the result of monitor selection and resolutions and number of monitors involved. If you want Icons to stay put, place them down the left edge and in a single column that does not reach the bottom of the screen at the lowest resolution used.
