Right here's the problem; My PC was seriously lacking in space ( Even with my 2 hard drives -.- ) So i decided to install another hard drive, now i only had 1 spare IDE but no spare Molex connector things, so i decided as i next to never use my DVD drive, I'd take it out and replace it with my spare HDD. After i done that, my pc would do a memtest and look for the IDE drives and something along these lines would come up 'E@@ 6@' and wouldn't go any further.

So i fiddled with the jumpers, now it detects the IDE drives, win.

But, I tried booting up normally and it just displays the boot screen for a short while, then restarts, over and over.

So i tried 'Last known good..' that didn't work. I tried 'Enable VGA mode' that didn't work. And i also tried 'disable automatic restart on system failure' but it still does it, which makes me think it's not a system problem.

But now, it will only start if i choose any of the 3 safe mode options and when in safe mode, i can access the new HDD fine! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi,

Even with my 2 hard drives -.- ) So i decided to install another hard drive,

1. So - you have 3 hard drives - is this correct?

2. You have kept your original HDD with theoriginal Operating System on it - is this correct ?

3. If you remove the latest HDD - does the system boot ?

4. How are the drives set up ? Master / Slave / Cable Select ?

What is the jumper set to on each drive ?

Are the drives connected using individual cables ?

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Can this be closed? I figured it out!

When i put the new HDD in, the PC jiggled about the drive letters, so i just changed them back with the Computer Management app thing! :)

For anyone who needs it, these are all correct, apart from the fact it wouldn't boot even if i took the hdd out :)

And they were on 2 separate controllers, the system HDD and the new one on one, with the system ones jumpers set to Master and the new ones set to slave and on the other cable there were no jumpers as it said to leave them off if it was a single drive :)

Thanks for the reply anyway! :)

Have a look on the drive itself. There should be a label. This needs to be set as a Master too if it is on its own cable.

If there is a jumper setting - then comply with this.

If "no jumper" = Master then the setting is correct.

Take the second drive out and boot only from the Primary drive.

Does it boot properly now?
