Service Pack 3 installation

I just installed service pack 3 on my XP pro setup. after several attempts I

finally managed to get the update succesfully installed.

 

However now that it's running (applications seem to work fine) I notice that

my network icons (cable and wireless) have dissapeared and when I try to look

at devices in device manager the page is blank... no devices showing at all..

 

Hardware is a Sony Vaio PCG-Z1RSP laptop.

 

ideas anyone?

Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and
