KenB Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Hi and welcome to ExTS. You need to be aware that all hard drives are not the same. Laptops use 2.5 inch hard drives. ( Desktops are 3.5 inch ). Also, there are two basic standards - SATA and PATA. PATA is commonly called IDE and has a broad cable compared to the SATA drives. I found a Specification that identified the TX86 as having a SATA drive. There are different speeds available too. 5400 r/m and 7200 r/m/ The 7200 r/m will transfer data faster. You can positively identify the type of drive by the connections. see here: http://kenspchelp.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=76 Be aware that if you replace the drive you will need to install the Operating System onto the new drive.
