Guest bagger Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 8 year old system with ME IE 6sp1, all of a sudden unable to open word docs, no error msg, just hour glass timing, have to reboot to use other apps. Seems to me I had this problem a long time ago, but can't remember the solution. tia
Guest Mart Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Re: Word 2000 Not necessarily, but maybe :- Sounds like you *may* have a damaged 'normal.dot' template. One of the most common problems with Word not opening is due to a faulty (corrupted) 'normal.dot' template. You could try renaming/deleting the 'normal.dot' template (Don't worry, a new one will be generated, if successful) Take a look at the MS Knowledge Base article :- "WD2000: Invalid Page Fault When Normal.dot Is a Document" http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;211541 Otherwise, you could try posting to one of the Word newsgroups Best of luck Mart "bagger" <bagger@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C50273D4-1F80-4463-8745-F22B97E9A471@microsoft.com... >8 year old system with ME IE 6sp1, all of a sudden unable to open word >docs, > no error msg, just hour glass timing, have to reboot to use other apps. > Seems to me I had this problem a long time ago, but can't remember the > solution. > tia
