the name of my external drive is Cypress AT2LP RC42 but when i go under

hardware it says that the name is yyyyyyyyyyyyy usb drive.. and when i click

on it.. it ask me if i want to format the E drive.. and once i click yes it

reads error formatting E: drive.. what can i do to get my drive working again?

for the external drive

and look up their

troubleshooting.

would i go to cypress or should i go to hitachi because when i took it out of

the box its a hitachi travelstar.. and i download there programs and it wont

detect the external drive..

Its better to provide the model number, rather than the hardware info from

XP when asking such a question.

Be sure your model number/part number is the same as noted in the weblink.

both.

 

both should have some

fyi and solving basic

installation issues as you

may not be the only one

in the world to have encountered

an issue.

 

also, since it is a new purchase

and you likely have some

free tech help for installation,

warranty and troubleshooting,

you should take advantage

of both of them and

ask them the same question.

 

it may not be unreasonable

that your unit might be

defective because i think

most all hardware of today

is plug n play ready.

 

if not then it is probably

a piece of cr*p and of

poor engineering.

 

basically tell them that

yours plugged in but

it wont play.

before i go to that site.. i took a part the external drive and looked at the

information on it and it reads HITACHI (TRAVELSTAR) should i be worried?
