Guest Lil' Dave Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Re: external drive Its better to provide the model number, rather than the hardware info from XP when asking such a question. http://app.cypress.com/portal/server.pt?space=CommunityPage&control=SetCommunity&CommunityID=285&PageID=552&shortlink=DA_188330&ref=sch Be sure your model number/part number is the same as noted in the weblink. -- Dave We have a right to choose. Choices have consequences, for both self, and others. You probably considered yourself. Guest db.·.. > Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Re: external drive both. both should have some fyi and solving basic installation issues as you may not be the only one in the world to have encountered an issue. also, since it is a new purchase and you likely have some free tech help for installation, warranty and troubleshooting, you should take advantage of both of them and ask them the same question. it may not be unreasonable that your unit might be defective because i think most all hardware of today is plug n play ready. if not then it is probably a piece of cr*p and of poor engineering. basically tell them that yours plugged in but it wont play. -- db·´¯`·...¸><)))º> "E" <E@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6FF6C4FC-6ACA-4A39-9F56-AE8FF949ED83@microsoft.com... > would i go to cypress or should i go to hitachi because when i took it out of > the box its a hitachi travelstar.. and i download there programs and it wont > detect the external drive.. > > "db.·.. ><))) ·>` .. ." wrote: > >> go to the homesite >> for the external drive >> and look up their >> troubleshooting. >> >> -- >> >> db·´¯`·...¸><)))º> >> >> >> "E" <E@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news:66E5D489-59AA-4A13-9D93-733D3DE6E200@microsoft.com... >> > the name of my external drive is Cypress AT2LP RC42 but when i go under >> > hardware it says that the name is yyyyyyyyyyyyy usb drive.. and when i >> > click >> > on it.. it ask me if i want to format the E drive.. and once i click yes >> > it >> > reads error formatting E: drive.. what can i do to get my drive working >> > again? >> >>
