Is there a log file for disk check in XP?

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is any type of report I can look at after I

run a disk check in XP via

Disk Properties->Tools->Check Now...

When the scan completes it just displays a message box "Scan

complete". That's it (can you think of a more useless message

Microsoft?)

Please do not suggest Event Viewer, as there is nothing there

Thanks in advance

there is a lot of

info on check disk,

chkdsk at microsoft.com

or other places like google

and wikipedia.

however, if you just want

to see a check disk report

you can click on start>run>

cmd

open the command window

and run a read only chkdsk

at the prompt.

it won't do any reconciling

but will exhibit the data for

your file system.

There's a summary in Event Viewer after CHKDSK runs.

Can't remember which category - probably Application.

well I checked there believe me, and I haven't found any useful info

that's why I asked here

that's great, I could also buy a third party app or throw this piece

of Microsoft out of the window and get myself a real OS. But this is

not an answer to my question though, I already ran the scan and I want

to see the report.

There is no log in this case.

No errors were found so nothing was logged.

If it found an error/s it would put an entry in the application log.
