Guest dnamertz Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I was trying to find a file and it was shown to be in the Local Files\Temporary Internet Files folder within my personal documents and settings folder. When I went into that personal folder, there was no Local Files folder. So, I clicked on Properties for my personal folder and checked the "unhide" box. It then said it was copying over a bunch of files. When it was done, I could not even find my personal folder, and about half my icons have disappeared from the desktop.
Guest dnamertz Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 RE: Can't Find Folder I also noticed that the Accessories folder is no longer showing under All Programs in the Start menu. If I search for a program that I know is in the Accessories folder, it finds it in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories. But if I go into the start menu, Accessories is not there. I'm not sure what else is missing. What is going on? How do I get this stuff back?

The "unhide box" is actually a "Hide" box so if you checked it, your files are now hidden. In Windows Explorer, click on Tools > Folder Options > View and select "Show hidden files and folders." Now, go back to \Documents and Settings\<user>. Can you see your files?
