Guest boe Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Hello, I'm testing out windows server 2008. In 2003 - I get two remote sessions in addition to the user at the console/physical keyboard and video session. So I could effectively have 3 people all using the server simultaneously. With 2008, I seem to be able to have only 2 people on as administrator - one of them at the physical server keyboard and one remote or two remotes but no physical access. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

In both Windows 2003 and 2008, you have 2 remote administrative sessions, free of licensing requirements. In Windows 2003, you also could connect remotely to session 0 (the console session), because this was sometimes necessary to manage services. In Windows 2008, session 0 is no longer an interactive session, it is exclusively used for services, and thus there is no longer any need (nor possibility) to connect to it. I guess then I wish they had included 3 licenses so it had the same functionality as the old 2003 server :) "Vera Noest [MVP]" <vera.noest@remove-this.hem.utfors.se> wrote in message news:Xns9ACEE969E40FEveranoesthemutforsse@207.46.248.16... > No, this is by design. > In both Windows 2003 and 2008, you have 2 remote administrative > sessions, free of licensing requirements. > In Windows 2003, you also could connect remotely to session 0 (the > console session), because this was sometimes necessary to manage > services.
