NaRu Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I'm trying to figure out if the XFX ATI Radeon HD 4850 1GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HD MI PCI-Express Video Card Hd 485xznfc is compatable with my computer. I plan on upgrading for gaming purposes only. My specs are: Manufacturer- Hewlett-Packard Company Model- SR5613WM Processor- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30 Ghz. Memory- 2.93 GB (ram) System- 32-bit I'm also planning on eventually upgrading my CPU if its necessary; what kind of CPU should I get and why? Thanks in advance for helping with this. Quote
RandyL Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 You have 3Gb ram and the card will need 1 Gb of that. Not much left for Vista. Also 32 bit will not even recognize a full 4 Gb. Your PSU is 250w and you will need at least 450w. More is preferred. When pulling up your specs at HP your model shows as a Compaq. Personally I wouldn't waste my money on the upgrade considering your particular computer. Quote We are all members helping other members. RandyL Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 As I said it's just my opinion. For standard gaming your onboard graphics are pretty good. For adanced gaming you'll need more than this computer or a card can supply. Then there is the cost factor. Look at your specs here. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?tmp_rule=42878&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3801314&key=null&site=null Costs are the card and much bigger PSU. I would include the cost of more ram but yours will only support 4Gb and all of that will not be used on your 32 bit system. For a good gaming computer a quad core, 16Gb ram, graphics card, bigger PSU to support it etc. I would thing it better to buy a new and better PC rather than do a partial upgrade at that expense. NaRu Posted June 25, 2011 Author Posted June 25, 2011 My graphics card is onboard? I thought it was one you pop in/pop out. Last I opened my case thats what I thought I saw anyway. I plan on building my own computer when I get into some more money anyways. Do you have any tips on what to get? Guess I'll just wait for it. Thanks for your time anyway :) Quote
RandyL Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Unless I'm viewing the wrong specs. *Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed. Integrated graphics using nVidia GeForce 6150SE Up to 256MB (with 512MB or more system memory) Also supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards Quote We are all members helping other members.
