Hi,

I'm using SBS 2003 with TS, could someone direct me to a tutorial on how to

setup the profiles.

Thanks Craig

Are you running TS on another server? SBS 2003 only allows 2 Remote

Connections to the server for management and does not do Terminal Services

in application mode.

Re: Tutorial

You might want to post this in the SBS newsgroup, Craig, many things

are special in an SBS domain.

Re: Tutorial

It sure is and one of them is that TS in Application mode is not allowed on

the SBS box itself. For all of my sites we have to have a second server

running TS on it.

RE: Tutorial

Hi,

As Roger said, SBS 2003 only allows 2 Remote Connections to the server for

management.

Since SBS is always a domain controller, there is a security risk involved

in running Terminal Services in application sharing mode on a domain

controller. More information, please refer to:

Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2: Frequently Asked Questions

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/evaluation/faq/term.mspx

For general Window server products, you can refer to the following steps to

configure Terminal Services-specific profile settings

1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.

2. Right-click the user for which you want to set profile settings, and

then click Properties.

3. Click the Terminal Services profile tab.

You can configure the following Terminal Services-specific profile settings:

o Terminal Services User Profile path. You can choose a place to store

users' Terminal Services profiles other than the default location.

o Terminal Services home folder. You can specify a path to a home folder

for use with Terminal Server sessions. This directory can be either a local

folder or a network share.

For information about setting Terminal Server profiles, see Terminal

Services Profile. However, I am not sure if this also fits for SBS server.

As SBS product is independent from windows server products, to receive more

professional suggestion, I'd suggest you post to our SBS queue:

microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/newsgroups/dgbrowser/en-us/defaul

t.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

Hope this helps.

Sincerely

Re: Tutorial

Craig,

Vera is dead on with this (when is she not?).

SBS2003 is its own animal and does things a lot differently from 'normal'

Windows.

Are you familiar with RWW (Remote Web Workplace)? If not, I would really

look into it. It will - among other things - allow you to access "My

Company's application Sharing Server" (read: terminal server).

Now, you do not need to use RWW to access the TS. You can do it the normal

way as well.

If you want more details please post back and I will help. I have done this

many many many times and can give you some (what I would like to think are)

useful tips.

I have entered the SBS news group "url" in my reply so that others in the

SBS newsgroup will see this post. I tend to get very busy and might not be

able to reply as quickly as you might like! But, I will get you the info....

Terminal Server profiles in SBS 2003 environment

Terminal Server profiles in SBS 2003 environment

Hi Cary,

I just signed onto this 'forum' and see no URL to the 'SBS' forum you speak of - how do I find it?

I'm trying to setup a TS (seperate box) in a SBS 2003 domain and would *really* appreciate some help.
