Guest Code-Curious Mom Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I open start menu>My Documents>subfolder1>subfolder2>etc. Pausing on subfolder auto-opens them to right. When I reach right side of screen, they open to left instead. Fine. But now if I hover the folder that opened to the left, then move the mouse horizonally back to the right, the menu on the right most side of the screen closes. Actually if I hover open topmost folder on right most side of screen, all is well, but any other folder, menu closes as stated. IOW, in example My Documents>SubFoldersA>SubFoldersB>SubFoldersC(rightmost side of screen)>SubFoldersD(opens to left) hover open any folder in SubFolderC's list (except first one), point to the folder you just opened, then try to return to previous folder. Menu of SubFoldersC closes. Occasionally it will stay open (if I move the mouse just so?) but the first folder works fine and nowhere nearly so finicky. Hard to describe, but very annoying. (XP Home SP3) Anyone know what the problem is? Ideas appreciated.
Guest Ron Badour Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Re: Start Menu subfolders closing inappropriately Look at the length of the names on the shortcuts and cut down the length of the long ones by renaming them. That will allow the folders to continue opening to the right -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP 1997 - 2008 "Code-Curious Mom" <none@NG.invalid> wrote in message news:O09Roo42IHA.4036@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >I open start menu>My Documents>subfolder1>subfolder2>etc. Pausing on >subfolder auto-opens them to right. Guest Ron Badour Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Re: Start Menu subfolders closing inappropriately I dunno. I recalled that "work around" from many years ago in my W98 days. There might be a fix available; however, I don't like my menus opening right and then left so I just trim the names. -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP 1997 - 2008 "Code-Curious Mom" <none@NG.invalid> wrote in message news:esIRqx52IHA.4536@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > That definately helps.
