Guest Apollo Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Hi, I am looking to impliment DFS to share out batch files and installations files, across a geographically diverse wan. However all the reading I have done to date has not mentioned how I set security. So how's it done so that one of my users doesn't accidently delete the file? Thanks Apollo
Guest Anthony [MVP] Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Re: DFS security Apollo, You set the security in the normal way on the target folders. DFS replicates the file and folder security. Two points: - Do not set security using the DFS paths to the folders, only the actual UNC or local path - The Share security is not replicated. You can use the Share security to allow Read only, but you would need to set it on each Share Anthony, http://www.airdesk.co.uk "Apollo" <Mark_Bowell@btconnect.com> wrote in message news:A44C24A3-5355-464E-A811-9E6B18DB633D@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I am looking to impliment DFS to share out batch files and installations > files, across a geographically diverse wan.
