Modem Send & Receive indicator lights

Dear All,

 

Im not in the process of downloading anything from the www but my modem indicates that I am.

 

Can anyone assist?

 

Is someone gaining access to my PC?

Welcome to FPCH

 

It is normal for the RX and TX lights to flash when you have an internet connection.

Thanks for the welcome!

 

I would expect a small amount of indication but its as though Im downloading and uploading, they're virtually solid green. Ive run adaware checkers and my AV is up to date.

 

Anything I can try/test to confirm all is 'normal'?

Have a read of this Mike, forget the fact that it has a WebSTAR label on the front of the modem as these are very popular modems.

What package do you have with Virgin with regard to the Internet?

 

My thoughts would be 10MB.

Just throwing a quick question in here....

Have you secured your connection to the router with a password?

I fixed my daughters laptop last week and when it searched for a network, it found 4 unsecured networks in my area!!

I could have used any one of those.

I'm with Virgin and I had exactly the same model of modem which is just a stand alone modem Starbuck before a kind person sent me a stand alone router, I then hooked the two together.

 

Now I'm on Virgin's 30MB package I have a modem/router combo.
