Is Acronis true image home edition, backup software , that much better than

the backup software that comes with the 1 TB Western Digital (My Book) home

edition ($300), that it is worth another $50.

http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ This would be for

a Dell XPS T450 desktop with Windows 98se and for a XPS 420 Dell Vista?

Re: Acronis backup

.....or Acronis disc director suite for partitions? I have several.... or

just use the Western Digital easy software, since I have never done backups

before and am unfamiliar with more complicated programs???

Re: Acronis backup

Acronis True Image works great, but you may need an older version to work

with Win98SE. Check out their site.

Re: Acronis backup

How would it work with Windows Vista with Windows 98se data transferred to

it?.....and do you know anything about this. from Western Digital Site: Is

this true of all eSATA backups? (Safe shutdown and SmartPower are not

available in eSATA mode?....And, Is eSATA FASTER THAN FIREWIRE. (sorry).

eSATA Mode

1. Verify that all files are saved and applications closed.

2. Shut down the computer

3. Turn off the drive by pressing the power button located on the back

panel.

Note: Safe Shutdown and SmartPower are not available in eSATA mode.

Re: Acronis backup

I uninstalled the WD backup and the Memeo. I ran Acronis. It changed my

drive (S) external hard drive to (D) which was a 8gb temp. partition. I

backed up something but I'm not exactly sure what. If I wanted to start

over, try again, how would I wipe the backup I have on there now..off?

Re: Acronis backup

In Acronis True Image, you can delete the backup image (created it with True

Image).

I think that option is available when you start the Backup routine, BUT

after going through the initial screens (as if you were going to create

another backup), an explorer-like interface appears where you can do it

there (by right clicking on the backup image you want to delete, and

selecting delete). At least as I recall now.
