cyberdyne Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 (edited) Hi all. I have some close friends who have been using a Netgear DGN2000 Router for just over a year. The wireless has started dropping regularly and despite channel changes, firmware updates and repositioning, etc., the problems remain. I'm beginning to think a capacitor or two may have blown as I've read elsewhere with this model. So, I'm going to suggest a new router but am looking for suggestions. I should really steer clear of Netgear since they've not proven too reliable in the past but have found some at Curry's which are reasonably priced (http://alturl.com/fdxmj or http://alturl.com/9dw8s [i cannot see much of a difference in these two other than price]). What would you guys recommend as a replacement? They have two relatively new HP laptops running Win7, both 'N' capable but their HP printer only seems to work with 'B' & 'G'. The laptops are almost always located quite a distance from the router - 1 floor up, approx. 20 ft in a straight line, floor and 1 wall in between (router cannot be moved). Any suggestions appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Edited June 28, 2011 by cyberdyne Quote
