I received the following error when I attmepted to schedule a task in Win XP

with SP2.

while setting task information

0X80070005 acess is denied.

I research Microsoft and came up with the following:

In Run as: in the Schedule Task in the Task windows the computer name was

put in automically and I put in a password.

I never set a password under the Adminsitrators name because I did not want

to do that each time I boot up the computer.

I guess I am a little confused using the passwords.

Where can I find my password or where can I set one up, so I can use the

Schedule Tasks without continually running into this problem.

Thank you in advance for your assistance

Hank L

You can find your password in Control Panel, Users. Actually you can't

find it there - you can set one up or clear it, but it won't be displayed.

Yes, by default, the Task Scheduler will not run a number of tasks on the

local account if it does not have a password. This is for security

reasons.

If you don't want to enter the password every boot, use TweakUI to set

autologon.

Re: Error Scheduling Tasks

Task Scheduler Fix

A scheduled task can be run without passwords:

For Pro: Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Local Security

Policy/Local Policies/Security options. In the right hand pane (third down).

Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only.

This is enabled by default, disable it.
