Dear folks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

We are using windows server 2003 Service pack 1.

We used to take backup in LTO daily (normal mode) with system state.

There is small confusion, when we restore OS due to any hardware

problem. we have following 2 practice :-

PRACTICE 1:

1. First we install OS.

2. Then try to restore full backup from Tape.

PRACTICE 2:

1. First we should install OS.

2. Second install service pack 1 & all security patches.

3. After that restore full backup from tape

WHICH practice is best…

Plz help..

If you need any more information plz let me know..

Re: OS Restoration issue

Hello Gaurav,

Number 2. Install OS and the SAME SP and PATCH level like the original machine.

Make it as similar as possible.

Best regards
