Desktop - strange behaviour?

Hi .. When I do something simple, like empty my Recycle Bin, or maybe close

a window and go back to desktop, many of the Desktop Icons seem to do a

refresh, for a few seconds they display what I would call a "default Icon"

until the normally assigned icons reappears. It wouldn't be so bad but

sometimes it takes a while for this to finish (seconds maybe but I cant move

my mouse until it finishes). Once the correct icons have been "repainted"

all then is OK once more. Is this normal? Is there anyway to correct

this..if it is incorrect behaviour.

I'm running XPPro SP3, but behaviour occurred on SP2 also..... I don't use

Active Desktop or whatever its called, I don't have a background image, only

a plain colour from the palette. I run 32bit colour.

Try this from MVP Kelly Theriot:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm - Prevent automatic icon and

folder refresh, Line 157
