Guest danieltrent0@aol.com Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 I was hoping someone could help me with this whole process. I tried using nLite software to place drivers on with winxp install CD and I keep getting same "Cannot Find Hard Disk Error". This is to due to the fact that Xp does not load SATA RAID Drivers during Windows Installation. -No I dont Have a floppy drive or even a blank floppy!- I have a Sony Vaio Model: PCG-384L Series: VGN-FZ140E I found the right SATA Drivers for my HD. I guess what I'm asking is if there is any other software or boot utility that I can use that will successfully load the SATA drivers or emulate an "A" floppy drive. I'm open to other alternatives. -Daniel

Guest Anteaus Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 RE: Vista Downgrading - Pulling Hair Out You need to go into the BIOS config screen and set the SATA mode to 'legacy' or 'PATA emulation' Typically you press F2 or Del at startup to access these settings, though this may vary. Finding the setting typically takes a bit of digging, it may be under peripherals, or advanced. Once you've got the chipset drivers installed you may find that returning this setting to 'native mode' gives better performace, but this is not essential. -------------------------- "This is a wonderful computer. It''s 20yrs old and absolutely reliable. And, in all that time it''s only had four mobos, six processors, two cases, seven OS''s ...." Guest DL Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Re: Vista Downgrading - Pulling Hair Out You'll probably need to pull out more hair; Its not sata drivers for your hd you require, but sata controler drivers for your mobo. And no you cannot install them other than by buying a floppy, or intergrating them into a winxp installation cd <danieltrent0@aol.com> wrote in message news:2c5bc852-59b2-4987-a889-5cba3fbac09b@x35g2000hsb.googlegroups.com... >I was hoping someone could help me with this whole process. Guest funman1 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Re: Vista Downgrading - Pulling Hair Out I have downgraded a Sony PCG-384L Version VGN-FZ140E to Windows XP. I have all drivers needed for the downgrade and EVERYTHING on the laptop WORK 100% even the Camera. One of the hardest things was getting the windows install disc to see the SATA hard drive. I have solved this problem and all others related to the downgrade. The instructions are not for the faint of heart or the avergae user but it can be done!!!
