ATI CAT drivers

I am using release 7.5 with a Radeon 9600XT card (XP Home, SP2). Is there

any benefit to going to a later release (current is 8.6)? I don't play

games and the only video is Windows media and You Tube.

supposedly there were some attempted fixes for the "driver has stopper working" problem.

Going to a later release may have no effect for you. However, it could

introduce new bugs. I cannot go to the latest release because that

means a couple of games won't play correctly. I have to test which

release of their video driver will work best with all my applications.

I went to the latest version but had problems. I backed off to a prior

major release and the problems went away. I then tried each incremental

(minor) version until I ran into the problems and then backed off one

minor version to the latest prior version that worked well for me.
