Plastic Nev Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 At this point I have to ask where did your son obtain the copy of Windows 7 Ultimate? It could be important. Nev. michelsmith Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Hi, It is a hardware problem or it can be a BIOS setup problem. It can happen in many ways – Computer hardware might not be installed correctly; mother board’s jumpers are set incorrectly; computer or its peripherals have been shorted out; or it can occur due to some other mechanical problem. Though these could some of the reasons, sometimes it is difficult to pinpoint the exact reason. When the display stops working, the remedies should be worked out one by one. Quote
RandyL Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 My son formatted my laptop and put on windows 7 ultimate before jetting off on hol! Why did he do this? Was there a problem? Where did he obtain windows 7 ultimate if you did not have it before? As far as I can tell from your post all was working well before he did this. I suggest you reinstall your original Windows version from the media that was included. All should be well again. Yes it might be a hardware problem as michelsmith said but until we hear back from the original poster or an answer to Plastic Nev I think it fruitless to go further as conjecture without feed back is pointless in my opinion. michelsmith Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Laptop Freezing After Format Hi, Try to boot in safe mode and verify if the computer works fine without freezing. To boot to the desktop in safe mode keep tapping F8 key during restart. Once you see the option to boot in safe mode select it and press enter. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode If the computer works fine in safe mode, you try to put the computer in clean boot state to make sure that third party applications are not causing this issue with computer performance.
