Stevo 4257 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Hi, Can anyone help. I have a samsung R700 laptop, I recently upgraded my operating system to windows 7 which I purchased from Microsoft. My problem is that my screen keeps going blank on me. I have changed all my hiberenate and sleep settings to never but it still goes blank. This happens intermitantly more on initial start up but also happens after I have been on a while I don't lose anything when i reset but it is just a pain having to do it all the time:confused: p.s. may not reply straight away off to work. Plastic Nev Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Hi Stevo and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help. I have had a quick look at the spec for that machine and although originally may have had Vista, there seems no reason why Windows 7 itself should be giving problems, the laptop should handle it OK. I assume the blank screen doesn't show any text, even momentarily? So the only other possible starting point may be heat related. Download Speedfan from here= http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php Look for the blue link saying Speedfan 4.44 Install it and then let us know what the temperatures are that it shows. Also have a good look into the vent holes, is there any sign of dust inside? Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. michelsmith Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Hi, Try to boot in safe mode and verify if the computer works fine without freezing. To boot to the desktop in safe mode keep tapping F8 key during restart. Once you see the option to boot in safe mode select it and press enter. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode Quote
