Guest Michael Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Windows explorer doesn't start when I boot up. I don't get an error message, it just hangs. I have to open task manager and start it manually. Is there a fix for this?
Guest Michael Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Re: Explorer.exe fails to start on boot I found the problem, I had a major malware infestation and Nod32 didn't detect it. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware fixed everything. So much for Nod32, its uninstalled and deleted "Michael" <reply@spam.com> wrote in message news:ezIufFu3IHA.816@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Windows explorer doesn't start when I boot up. Guest Peter Foldes Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Re: Explorer.exe fails to start on boot Not every AV will find everything. I use 4 different on line AV's . One will find the culprit and one will not. Guest Michael Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Re: Explorer.exe fails to start on boot there were a total of 27 trojan and malware dll's that were in the System32 folder and Nod32 missed them all. They just piled up over a period of time. I am lucky I still have a hard drive and a working XP. I dumped Nod32 and trying out Symantec Endpoint "Ken Blake, MVP" <kblake@this.is.an.invalid.domain> wrote in message news:m70074h9nnmmd2umsb8dd6rsrkdso1sk3i@4ax.com... > On Sat, 5 Jul 2008 18:26:19 -0400, "Peter Foldes" <okf22@hotmail.com> > wrote: > >> Not every AV will find everything. > > > I'll be stronger than that. *No* anti-virus program will find > everything. > > Besides, Michael is comparing an anti-virus program with one that > looks for broader types of malware. Guest Laura MS MVP Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Re: Explorer.exe fails to start on boot Nod32 is an antivirus program not antimalware. Malware bytes is an antimalware program not an antivirus. Big difference. -- Stalking is a Crime Stalking charges are serious and almost every state now has a strict stalking law.
