I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard with a PrtScn key but I can not get the

print screen function to work regardless if I use the key by itself or with

the shift, control, start, or alt keys. It is a useful feature I use

frequently at work but I can not get it to work on my home system.

Suggestions? Thanks

Check, it might be one of those things that has to be done with a

function key. Fn+PrtScn.

But barring that, all I can suggest is a 3rd part program that allows

you to change the hot key for it. PrintScreen is one, HardCopy is

another print screen program. Google for more. I use HardCopy and it

allows to crop the screen before capture and then print / email / copy

to clipboard / save. Most do. 3rd party programs are much more

full featured than the Windows built in feature.

Re: print screen

It is unlike the print screen function that Windows 95 and 98 had. Do a

Google search for print screen and read about it.

RE: print screen

Plan A>Google "print screen" and clik on first website

http://www.seoconsultants.com/windows/print-screen/

Plan B>Microsoft Windows

Main article: ClipBook Viewer

In some versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system, the contents of

the clipboard can be viewed at any time by using the Clipboard Viewer

(Clipbook Viewer in Windows XP and 2000) application (clipbrd.exe). In older

versions of Windows the common practice was to open a copy of the "Notepad"

or "Wordpad" editor, and paste into that. Often these operations are

available from the "Edit" pull down menu and they may be available via a

context menu, usually accessible by context-clicking in the window or dialog

entry that is to be cut from or pasted into.

The standard Windows keybindings are:

Ctrl-c to copy data onto the clipboard

Ctrl-x to cut data to the clipboard

Ctrl-v to paste data from the clipboard

alternative keybindings (available in most windows programs)

Ctrl-Insert is copy

Shift-Delete is cut

Shift-Insert is paste

the advantage of the alternative keys is that the fingers can stay close to

the arrow and selection keys when you are editing a large body of text

The Clipbook Viewer was removed entirely in Windows Vista.

Re: print screen

I should clarify my response. I have a multimedia keyboard where the

function keys have dual purpose depending on whether the function lock key

is on or off. With the function lock key on the keys act as normal function

keys...with the function lock key off the keys have different

purposes(spell, save, send, fwd, etc.). Greg T

Pressing the <PrtScn> key copies the entire display, including the

Desktop Wallpaper, to the clipboard (iow, into RAM). Pressing

<ALT>+<PrtScn> copies only the active Window to the clipboard. To view

the screen capture, open a graphics program, such as MS Paint, and press

<CTRL>+V. This will paste the contents of the clipboard (your

screenshot) into the open file, and allow you to view it or save it as a

file for later use.

Actually, it's exactly the same as it was in Win9x.
