g:\is not accessible; error performing inpage operation

I attached my other pc's hdd as a usb device into my main pc. When I try to

read the hdd/drive, it says 'g:\is not accessible; error performing inpage

operation' What does this means as it does not need a password to log into

its xp? Does this means my hdd had its days numbered /// Appreciate your

comments

Further to my post, when I go to Disk management, it will show the Recovery

partiton (item/folders can be seen) but not showing the G where the original

OS reside. I would have thought if the hdd is going South, all the partitons

would suffer the same fade. Any comments from the experts here, thanks
