Windows Server 2003, SP2, only DC in domain, running AD, DNS, File&Print.

W32time gives this series of events in the System log:

Information, ID 38: The time provider NtpClient cannot reach or is currently

receiving invalid time data from nist.netservicesgroup.com

(ntp.m|0x0|x.x.x.x:123->y.y.y.y:123)

(where x.x.x.x and y.y.y.y are IP addr. of local and time servers,

respectively).

Warning, ID 47: Time Provider NtpClient: No valid response has been received

from manually configured peer nist.netservicesgroup.com after 8 attempts to

contact it. This peer will be discarded as a time source and NtpClient will

attempt to discover a new peer with this DNS name.

Error, ID 29: The time provider NtpClient is configured to acquire time from

one or more time sources, however none of the sources are currently

accessible. No attempt to contact a source will be made for 15 minutes.

NtpClient has no source of accurate time.

I have scrupulously followed the instructions in KB816042. Using

nistime-32bit.exe, which also claims to be using UDP port 123, I can get a

response from this same server.

Any help appreciated.
