Guest Walter R. Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Using Win Xp Pro SP2. When I connect a universal memory card reader from my camera, Kingston FCR-HS219/1, Windows opens up four new hard disks, called Removable Disk M:. through Removable Disk P: Why four disks, instead of one?? When I connect my Epson printer (CX 4660), which also has a universal card reader, it only shows one Removable Disk L: I don't like it when Windows clutters up my Windows Explorer with seemingly unnecessary (3) Removable disks. Is this normal? How can I get rid of the 3 excess Removable disks? Thanks -- Walter http://www.rationality.net -

This allows you to transfer data between formats. Some readers (such as on your Epson) have managed to squeeze them into one slot (usually at the expense of reading Compact Flash and Smart Media cards which have a different interface to the others). As you cannot insert more than one card at a time, you cannot transfer data between card in that slot. There are systems that have more than one slot but only appear as one device. You cannot insert multiple cards in these.
