Does anyone know if the XP SP3 CD has the AMD cpu fixes on it yet? Also any information on what

Is it really Microsoft's responsibility to fix the screwup by OEM

vendors in the build of the image they use to mirror onto the hard disks

that they put in the wrong-CPU hosts? They provided a workaround to fix

the image that you got stuck with. See:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888372

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953356

You wouldn't get nailed by this if you install the OS yourself from an

installation CD (instead of using an image based on different hardware

than where you restore that image).

When munging your e-mail address, *first* munge the domain. Use a

domain that is not registered (so that it couldn't exist), use

characters that are not allowed in a domain name, or use the .invalid

TLD (top-level domain) in place of .com, .net, etc. Don't energize

spambots to slam a domain by using its true name in your munged value.

For the fix for XP SP3 with non Intel processors, see Microsoft KB 888372

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888372

Basically just one change in the registry is needed.

Regards Mike.
