Guest Jesusjacquez@gmail.com Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I have never burn dvds. I created an slide show in Roxio Easy Media Center, and when I tried to burn it the program tolde me the DVD as incompatible. My laptop is an XP M24 mg system memory HP Pavillion M24 Mg system memory HP 1.61 HGZ 992 MG ram And the DVDR I am trying to burn are Memorex Printable DVD-R. I am familiar with CD burning... and these type of CDs are pretty universal... I just learned the DVD world is different. Which DVD-R is good for my laptop. Thanks, and sorry for being such a newby... Botticelli
Guest sgopus Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 RE: burning dvds So which is the amount of system memory you have 992 megs or 24 megs? either is an odd number, where are you getting these numbers? ensure the type of DVD burner you have, is compatable with the media your using. What DVDs your laptop will work with we don't know. We don't know what your drive supports. 2. XP can't do ANYTHING with XP. Ask elsewhere

Chances are you only have a CD burner. To burn a DVD you need a DVD burner. Then you have to learn the differences between DVD-R and DVD+R among other thingss. Galen

I may not have a dvd >burner.... just a CD burner!!!! I will find out >Thanks. To add to the confusion you also need to be aware that there are combo drives which are CD-R/W burners and DVD readers but cannot burn DVDs. If you have Nero installed there is a tool called NeroInfo Tool that will tell you all about your drive. If you don't have Nero installed you can get the NeroInfo Tool free from here http://www.snapfiles.com/get/neroinfo.html -- Xandros B
