Guest Joe Bloggs Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 During an overdue clean up of my PC I have managed to remove (?) Word Pad from my PC, I did a disc clean up and maybe removed some of my accessories. My PC has had a few upgrades over the years and now on XP SP3. So, I am now not sure with CD I need to insert to try and get Word Pad back, or can I do it without any CD (hopefully!) Many thanks

Guest Bob I Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Re: Lost my Word Pad If you have Service pack 2, it was updated then so the files would be available there. Try using Agent Ransack (free file search tool) and look for "Wordpad" http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/ Joe Bloggs wrote: > During an overdue clean up of my PC I have managed to remove (?) Guest Rey Santos Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 RE: Lost my Word Pad Unless you actually deleted the file "wordpad.exe" from the system folder on your hard drive its impossible to uninstall it through the normal process of removing softare. If you accidentally deleted the shortcut from the start menu, the easiest way of finding out if the program is still there is to go to the RUN menu and type in "wordpad". If it comes up, then you know that you only deleted the shortcut and not the whole program. If you still need the program and you want to restore it without reinstalling windows, copy and paste the following into the Start > Run box: %systemroot%\inf\sysoc.inf When the sysoc.inf file opens in Notepad, find the following line: MSWordPad=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,wordpad.inf,HIDE,7 Now take out the HIDE, so that the line reads: MSWordPad=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,wordpad.inf,,7 Click File menu > Save. Now go to Control Panel / Add\Remove Programs Select the 'Add\Remove Windows Components' tab. Select 'Accessories and Utilities'. Press the 'Details' button. Select 'Accessories'. Press the 'Details' button. You should now see Wordpad in the list. Check Wordpad to install and press OK > OK > Next. -- Rey "Joe Bloggs" wrote: > During an overdue clean up of my PC I have managed to remove (?)
